Ramsgate, located in east Kent is a typical English seaside town with one of the largest marinas in the south of England.  Ramsgate is not only a busy maritime centre but also a historic town with conservation areas and plenty of fine seaside architecture.

Ramsgate ferry port is well placed on the south eastern coast of England to offer easy access to the North Sea and the English Channel.  Ramsgate ferry port is the only port in the south of England that provides a ferry service to Belgium.  Ramsgate port is not only capable of providing efficient service to the passengers but also a convenient port with a dedicated access road to England’s major motorway network including the M25 and excellent rail connections.

Ramsgate’s coastline:

Ramsgate offers a plethora of attractions along the beautiful coastline, its main beach Ramsgate Main Sands has been awarded a Blue Flag in 2008. The seafront offers a range of adrenaline pumping activities from sailing, jet skiing and surfing to simply relaxing on the continental style cafés, bars and restaurants on the seafront parade.

Nature Reserves:

Ramsgate is home to Sandwich and Pegwell Bay Nature reserve and also Monkton Nature reserve. The Pegwell Bay nature reserve is well known for its orchids and wetland birds while the Monkton reserve offers some spectacular views of woodlands and cliffs along with some exquisite wildlife and birds.

Museums:


You can see WWII fighter planes in the RAF Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Trust Museum as well as visit the RAF Manston History museum illustrating Britain’s war history.

Historical sites:


Some of the other attractions include the Minster Abbey, St. Augustines Cross, Italianate greenhouse dating back to 1810 and The Viking Ship located on a cliff top at Pegwell Bay.

Places to eat and drink:


The Queen’s Head is one of most popular seafront bars in Ramsgate, while Patogh is the one for you if you’re interested in sampling some of the most influential Persian cuisine.  The Dragon Inn and Twin Dragons come recommended as some of the best Chinese restaurants in Ramsgate while St Lawrence tandoori serves Indian food at its best.  There are also plenty of places to sate your appetite along Ramsgate’s traditional seafront.
